San Francisco Giants All-Time Great Matt Williams Named Parade Grand Marshal

He’s an all-time San Francisco Giants gamer and fan fave and slugged and defended with the very best in his era and he’s your 2024 Pumpkin Festival Parade Grand Marshall, Matt Williams!
Williams was selected by the Giants with the third overall pick in the 1986 June Draft out of the University of Nevada Las Vegas and enjoyed a 17-year MLB playing career with San Francisco (1987-96), Cleveland (1997) and Arizona (1998- 2003).
A .268 career hitter with 378 home runs and 1,218 RBI in 1,866 games, the five-time All-Star (1990, ‘94-96, ‘99) also won four Gold Gloves (1991, ‘93-94, ‘97) and four Louisville Silver Slugger Awards (1990, ‘93-94, ‘97) at third base.
He made his Major League debut in 1987 at the age of 21 and led the NL with 122 RBI in his first full season in 1990. He finished second in NL Most Valuable Player voting in the strike-shortened 1994 season after batting .267 with a league-leading 43 home runs along with 96 RBI in 112 games.
He managed the Washington Nationals from 2014-2015, earning 2014 National League Manager of the Year honors. This year Williams returned to the Giants marking his 12th on a Major League coaching staff. The prior two years he worked as the Padres' third base coach under Manager Bob Melvin.
